Daniel Skwarna is an award-winning fine art and documentary photographer based in Wellington, Prince Edward County. Working primarily with medium and large format film, his deliberate, slow-paced approach yields contemplative images that explore the intersection of place, history, and human resilience.
Deeply informed by his studies in European history, Near and Middle Eastern civilizations, and fine art history at the University of Toronto, Skwarna’s visual narratives examine complex and often marginalized environments.
His extensive travels have led him to document life within conflict zones such as Northern Ireland and the West Bank, alongside long-form visual projects investigating distinct cultural landscapes like Slab City and Niagara Falls.
His photography has been featured in prominent publications including National Geographic, Esquire, Fortune, The Globe and Mail, Report on Business, and Spacing Magazine.
Skwarna's work has been widely recognized internationally with honors from LensCulture, the Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3), the International Photography Awards (IPA), the Pollux Awards, and Applied Arts, and is included in the American Photo archive.
